PASTOR DENNIS HODULICK:
A BIOGRAPHY
Pastor
Dennis Hodulick was born in Brooklyn, New York, December 25, 1946.
His family which included his father and mother moved out of the
city in 1952 to Nassau County. In 1961 his family which now included
a brother and sister (twins) moved to Brentwood.
In Brentwood,
Pastor Hodulick attended the South Junior High and went on to high
school. However, due to the desertion of his father and the breakdown
of his family life he dropped out of high school just prior to completion
in 1964. From 1964 to 1969 he experienced much trouble and chaos
in his life and grew accustomed to abusing drugs and alcohol, as
was the custom of his peers. At the age of eighteen Pastor Hodulick
left home to live in several rooming houses in Bay Shore. He even
spent some time on the streets of Bay Shore--homeless. After his
marriage to Edna Ostrander, whom he met in a Bay Shore disco, on
June 7th, 1969, they moved to Sayville where they resided the next
fourteen years.
In the first
five years of Pastor Hodulick's marriage his life stabilized into
a middle-class existence that included holding the same job over
those five years, purchasing a home, and raising their daughter,
Sarah. Throughout this period he continued to abuse drugs and alcohol.
On September
29, 1974 Pastor Hodulick accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
This experience radically changed his life. In 1976 and 1979 two
sons were born into the family, Gideon and Joshua. After his conversion
his job potential rose dramatically. He went from being employed
as a sheet metal mechanic to supervising an engineering department
in less than seven years, nearly tripling his salary.
After obtaining
his GED (high school equivalency diploma), Pastor Hodulick went
on to finish Bible school (LIBERTY HOME BIBLE INSTITUTE, Lynchburg,
Virginia). Upon completion of Bible school he went on to complete
college and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology (SUNY, EMPIRE
STATE COLLEGE, Old Westbury). Pastor Hodulick is presently within
twelve credits of completing his master's degree in Biblical Studies
(LOGOS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE & GRADUATE SCHOOL.)
Pastor Hodulick
has been a member of the AMERICAN BOARD OF CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
and Professional Associate Member of the NATIONAL CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR'S
ASSOCIATION. He is presently an active member in the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION
OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELORS.
Pastor Hodulick
is a member for the last eighteen years in the FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN
ASSEMBLIES in which he has held an elected national level office
for more than 10 years.
In 1991, Pastor
Hodulick was awarded the 1991 INSPIRATION AWARD by a local newspaper,
THE ISLIP BULLETIN for his leadership in the local community. In
addition for eight years he has been a board member of Long Island
Teen Challenge, a local drug rehabilitation program where he held
the office of Treasurer.
Pastor Hodulick
was ordained by GOSPEL COMMUNITY CHURCH, West Sayville, Pastor Al
Isaksen in 1983. This ordination was in recognition of adequate
education and tangible proof of God's call to ministry. This call
was manifest in the establishment of a permanent Christian fellowship
in the Brentwood/Bay Shore area.
It is in this
area that the Hodulick family has resided for the last twenty-five years.
Pastor Hodulick's wife of more than thirty-eight years is a graduate
of LIBERTY UNIVERSITY, Lynchburg, Virginia with a bachelor's degree
in psychology. She along with her husband is a Bible school graduate
of LIBERTY HOME BIBLE INSTITUTE, Lynchburg, Virginia.
In 1998 Pastor Hodulick took up again his interest in photography (which he laid down at the Lord's prompting 20 years ago.) He is an active (not all that active) member of the Nature and Wildlife Photographers of Long Island (NWPLI), and maintains his own personal and family photo-websites.
Pastor Hodulick's
daughter, Sarah is a graduate of NYACK COLLEGE, Nyack, New York
and holds a teaching certificate for the state of New York. Sarah
is teaching full-time at SMITHTOWN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, Smithtown,
New York. Sarah is married to Vincent Syrek and both are committed
youth leaders here at ALCF. Together they have a son, Andrew and
daughter, Cheyenne. His oldest son, Gideon, is a graduate of BRENTWOOD
HIGH SCHOOL, a local businessman and ower of GIDCH Construction Inc a home improvement company and is married to the
girl of his dreams Kristin Hinde. Together they have two sons, Gregory
and Jack and daughter, Keren. His youngest son, Joshua is a graduate of BRENTWOOD
HIGH SCHOOL and is a computer network engineer (Microsoft Certified
Professional and CNE.) Joshua is married to Christine Flammer, who
has been his one and only —seemly forever. Together they have a daughter, Cara and son, Ryan. Joshua also is owner of his business, Lake Hills Networking.
Pastor Hodulick
is an able preacher and conference speaker and has ministered in
many places throughout the United States and Canada including: Israel,
Guatemala, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Jamaica, India, Australia, China and Cambodia.
Pastor
Hodulick's life experience, academic accomplishments, and calling
make him uniquely qualified to understand and minister to the needs
of the people of this area. It is to this task that he has been
found faithful the last twenty-three years here at ABUNDANT LIFE CHRISTIAN
FELLOWSHIP.
